Droning
(Steelers Training Camp Blog – 2010)
The first thing you look forward to while you’re droning on in the thump-thump existence of training camp is not breaking camp. That’s too far away. No, the goal is to get to the pre-season and play a game. After a week or so of days spent whomping on teammates, or vice-sersa, setting your sights on another color jersey is job one. This is where the Steelers are at this point. Ready to get after somebody besides their buddies.
You can see the tell-tale signs in practice. At this point everybody is dog tired, chippy, and your roommates breathing gets on your nerves. It becomes hard to focus on video review. The wash, rinse and repeat of day to day life in camp starts taking it’s toll. But this saturday brings some relief. The Detroit Lions come to town and bring with them the promise of two things.
The chance to whack somebody on gameday and a day off. That’s as good as it gets at this point.
