This Saturday, May 15th is the annual Tunch and Wolf “Walk for the Homeles.” The walk benefits the Light of Life Rescue Mission on the North side of Pittsburgh. Light of Life has been serving the broken, the needy, and the hopeless for over fifty years on the north shore of Pittsburgh.
Jesus said in Matthew 22:39 to “Love your neighbor as yourself” and listed it as the second greatest commandment for us to follow. This is exactly what the Mission does. Light of Life is on the front lines, right in the trenches, providing meals, housing and restoring lives that have been shattered through addiction and circumstance.

No, not the Sixty Minutes Mike Wallace, but the heir to Santonio’s spot Mike Wallace. And what i saw in just a little action [...]
Continue Reading →I went down to the Steelers practice facility on Friday to do a little work. The bonus was sitting down and grubbing out with one of my all-time favorite players and guys, Steelers defensive end Aaron Smith. Aaron looks great, is ahead of schedule in his rotator cuff rehab, and participated in the just finished OTA’s (On [...]

Merril is a great guy that I truly respect. He’s overcome health issues both in and out of the game. As [...]

More of a reminder of days past. Battles against flesh and iron, both won and lost. Bruce Springsteen calls them “Glory Days.”
Just bending the rusted old horseshoe reminded [...]

With the springtime upon us and sunny days ahead it gives the players and coaches the opportunity to put behind them the problems that have beset them thus far this off-season and a chance to look ahead to brighter things.
The obvious implications of Ben and Santonio aside, three things the Steelers fans can look to for a brighter 2010 season are clanging in my gourd.

There is, as everyone knows, a great lineage of Centers to have played that position over the years for the Steelers. Starting with Mike Webster, Dirt Dawson, and then Jeff Hartings, between them they racked up 18 Pro [...]
Continue Reading →Joined by my producer sidekicks Frank Murgia and Andrew ‘Herschel” Venezie I tackled the subject of the 2010 NFL draft and who I think the Steelers should consider taking in the first round with the 18th pick. I also throw in some juicy info about my draft day experience and even how I punched the great Chuck Noll.

Dan Henderson came out swinging and Jake looked tentative and overwhelmed in the first round. Jake got himself together and dominated the rest of the bout, but the antics of Jason Miller in the post-fight interview in the ring led to a battle royale with what appeared to be double-digit participants and would have been a great show closer for a WWE pay-per-view..

It was a trip right out of the “Family Circus,” 14 hours of donut-and-coffee fueled driving one way with a van full of Mom and little brothers and sisters that wanted to see the big moment.
