This attitude, as much as anything else, tells you why the Steelers are 3-0.
Outside linebacker James Harrison, on the team starting 3-0 without quarterback Ben Roethlisberger
“Just because Ben isn’t there, he is not the whole team. He is a big part of this team, no question, but he is not the whole team. He is not going to determine if we win or lose the game. It may be something that is a contributing factor, but the next guy in line is just a starter in waiting, and that’s how we look at everybody
First it was Byron, then Dennis, and now Charlie. Lose one of the best right tackles in the league and bring in Big Flo. Santonio goes but Mike Wallace explodes. Casey sits a game and Hokie plays like Hamp. Trai Essex gets a hoofer, the “Big Legursk” steps up to the feeding trough.
Max Starks gets a low ankle sprain that on a normal sized human being would be a high ankle sprain, and Jonathan Scott gets a start, Tony Hills and Ramon Foster pick up some hockey shifts rotating through on a couple of Sahara Sundays.
Larry Foote, Nick Eason, and Ziggy Hood all get significant snaps on the hot days too.
Starter-in-waiting, with an “expectation level that doesn’t change.” Pretty much tells the whole story three weeks in.
