Things I’ve liked so far;

I like the way the four prodigal sons have returned home. Byron Leftwich, Bryant McFadden, Antwaan Randle El and Larry Foote have all come back snorting, chomping at the bit, working hard and leading by example and ready to contribute, and mentor younger players.

I like the spike upwards in the play of second year pros Ziggy Hood, Mike Wallace and KeenanLewis. So far, they are meeting the level of expectation that rises in the second year.

I like the leadership and interaction of offensive line coach Sean Kugler and his high voltage coaching style.

I like watching Dan Sepulveda scrape the clouds with high hanging punts.

I like watching rooks Emmanuel Sanders and Anonio Brown correcting their performances on a daily basis. Wide Receiver Coach Scottie Montgomery must be bending their ear, and they’re listening.

I like watching the Silverback James Harrison rule backs on ‘backers the way Anderson Silva rules the Octagon.

I like watching Flozell Adams catching some Mojo and showing he’s still a dude to be reckoned with.

I like the flat-back take off run blocking of David Johnson. He’s powered by hamhocks and uses them well.

I like Jeff Reed banging in a 60-yarder under the lights Friday night.

I like seeing the smile of Hines Ward, it gives great comfort to know 86 is back and healthy.

I like seeing the intensity of competition that exists when the offensive and defensive line get their one-on-ones on. There’s a lot of hooting and hollering coming from both sides of the ball as guys test their skills and put their pride on the line.

I like seeing the “Brothers,” the monks at Saint Vincent who cruise around in their long robes and never leave a sweat trail. I know they gott’a have a NASA cooling element under their robes somewhere.  And all of them great guys.

I like the five-star buffet at breakfast, lunch and dinner.

I like Saint Vincent University, and it makes me sad to think that an 18 game season may wipe out a long standing tradition of Steelers football beginning the chase to a championship with training camp in the foothills of the Laurel mountains.

I liked seeing Dick LeBeau and Russ Grimm go into the Hall of Fame. And the entire Steelers team in attendance.
