If you haven’t taken the opportunity to catch an Arena Football League game at the Consol Center, you’re missing a real treat.
This past saturday the Pittsburgh Power (4-4) hosted the defending Arena League champs, the Spokane Shock (3-5). And what a game it was!
Power defensive coordinator Maurice Blanding concocted a masterful game plan and shut down the high powered Shock offense that had racked up 69, 70 and 70 points the last three games to a pedestrian 41 points on saturday night.
On the other side of the ball head coach Chris Siegfried kept the return of QB Bernard Morris from injury under wraps until kickoff and Morris responded by lighting up the Shock defense running in two scores and passing for 5 after a so-so first half.
Aliquippa’s Mike Washington, a 5-8 WR made a one-handed TD catch that would fit nicely into any NFL highlight reel.
High voltage action in a family friendly atmosphere. It makes for some very entertaining football. I encourage everyone to check a game out and see for yourself.
